George actively supported Judge Wendy Li’s historic campaign to become Queens’ first Asian female judge, conducting community outreach through neighborhood visits and strategic phone banking. He took charge of event coordination, handling everything from venue selection and catering arrangements to managing sponsor logistics—ensuring each campaign event effectively amplified Judge Li’s message across the borough.

His responsibilities included planning programs, coordinating participants, and ensuring smooth operations for various activities. During the 2023 Ed-Spark Education Idea Competition at Harvard, George distinguished himself by earning third place honors for his innovative research project. His work focused on developing pedagogical strategies to enhance critical thinking skills in high school students through structured news literacy programs. This academic recognition at one of the world’s premier institutions highlights his ability to conduct meaningful educational research and present complex ideas effectively to expert panels.

Curatorial Leadership at "Healing Hearts" Exhibition

George co-hosted the impactful “Healing Hearts: Asian Young Artists’ Perspectives” exhibition at Chelsea Gallery (NYC) in spring 2023, serving as both curator and cultural ambassador. He meticulously selected fifteen significant Ming and Qing dynasty antique pieces, crafting insightful narratives that illuminated each work’s historical context and therapeutic value. His opening night address skillfully bridged traditional East Asian aesthetics with modern art therapy principles, setting the intellectual tone for the exhibition. The event’s success resonated beyond the gallery walls, earning prestigious media coverage from ABC News and Fox News for its innovative fusion of cultural heritage and mental health advocacy.

Gerald Gao

Gerald (Jiarun) Gao is deeply interested in art history and painting. He researched and published a paper on ancient Chinese furniture from the Ming and Qing dynasties. Gerald’s enthusiasm for art led him to assist his father, an antique Chinese furniture collector, and Su Ping, a renowned Chinese art collector and artist. In these roles, he has acquired valuable experience in managing art pieces and developed a unique perspective on art, preparing for his future career as an art history researcher and collector.
Outside of his artistic pursuits, Gerald is also an accomplished athlete and active Asian community activist. He engages in activities that promote cultural awareness and community cohesion, aiming to make a positive impact on the Asian community.
