No More Disappearance Day

May 9 marks “No More Disappearance Day,” a date established to prevent elderly people with Alzheimer’s disease from going missing. A report titled “Current Status and Development of Care Services for Older Adults with Cognitive Disorders,” released by the China National Committee on Aging in 2021, revealed that approximately 15.07 million people aged 60 and above in China suffer from cognitive disorders, including Alzheimer’s disease. These conditions are a leading cause of elderly disappearances. Older adults with such disorders experience memory decline and impaired judgment, making them difficult to locate once they go missing. Moreover, their disappearance often puts them at significant risk.
